Swansea is A Superstar

Swansea definitely punches above its weight when it comes to famous faces and can boast some very famous sons and daughters. They all have fancy cars with great technology including Vehicle Tracking which can be sourced from Companies like Vehicle Accessories .  They get this because if there vehicle is ever stolen they can see exactly where it is.  Here we will take a look at the careers of some of the celebrities that were born in Swansea.

Born near Swansea in 1951, Bonnie Tyler now lives in the Mumbles area. The Welsh are famous for their singers and Bonnie Tyler had a really belting voice that first came to light in 1977 which reached number 4 in the charts in the UK, America and Germany. She moved away from the country style and into a more rock style which is what she wanted and collaborated with Meatloaf’s songwriter. A huge hit for her was Total Eclipse of the Heart in 1983 and she sang on the soundtrack for the blockbuster Footloose starring Kevin Bacon. She represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2013.

Another big voice from the area was Sir Harry Secombe. He was born in Swansea in 1921 and was a comedian who worked with Spike Milligan in the radio troupe, The Goons. He had a fantastic singing voice and performed in many musicals and on television. He died in 2001.

On another musical note is Karl Jenkins. While we might not know his face, we will certainly have heard his music. He was born and raised in Penclawdd and composed jazz, classical and rock music. Some of the famous commercials that he composed music for include De Beers diamonds, Renault Clio and Levi’s.

Doctor Who might be filmed in Cardiff and the Doctor Who Experience based in Cardiff Bay, but the guy who writes the episodes? Yes, you’ve guessed it, he’s from Swansea! Russell T Davies was born there in 1963 and revived the iconic TV series in 2005. He is the man responsible for breathing new life into this fantastic show. Formerly, he worked on children’s television, winning a BAFTA. He went onto to work on Queer as Folk and Bob and Rose. He also worked on the Doctor Who spin-off series, Torchwood and helped to put Wales on the map for offering brilliant filming locations.

Another famous face who was born in Gorseinon near Swansea in 1953 is Keith Allen. Father to Lily Allen, he started his career as a stand-up comedian and opened for rock bands like The Clash. He has been a real all-rounder and been involved in acting, comedy, music, songwriting, art, writing and TV presenting. He starred in films Shallow Grave and Trainspotting and briefly appeared in the cult film Twin Town, based in Swansea. He starred in the Robin Hood series and presented a number of documentaries.

Hollywood beauty Catherine Zeta Jones was born in Swansea in 1969 and is now married to acting legend, Michael Douglas. She rose to fame in the series The Darling Buds of May and has since appeared in Hollywood films such as The Mask of Zorro, Entrapment, Traffic and The Terminal.
